On December 7th, 1941, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor “awoke the sleeping giant”, forcing American into World War Two. American naval power was pivotal in defeating Imperial Japan and ending World War Two. In 2021, China’s navy is growing and posturing daily while the U.S. Navy focuses on inclusion, diversity training and wokeness. Will the U.S. military be tough enough to wage war against a determined enemy again? If we lose our technological advantage and fighting spirit, we may not.
The Navy’s Task Force One (full report linked below), aims to combat discrimination (racial, gender and age) with a multi-faceted set of programs to change recruitment, uniform and appearance guidelines, total culture, allowed speech, ship naming and a host of other initiatives.
Most disturbing is the pledge sailors will be expected to take which says:
As a key member of Task Force One Navy I will invest the time, attention and empathy required to analyze and evaluate Navywide issues related to racism, sexism, ableism and other structural and interpersonal biases.
I pledge to be actively inclusive in the public and private spheres where I live and work, and proactively encourage others to do the same.
I pledge to advocate for and acknowledge all lived experiences and intersectional identities of every Sailor in the Navy.
I pledge to engage in ongoing self-reflection, education and knowledge sharing to better myself and my communities.
I pledge to be an example in establishing healthy, inclusive and team-oriented environments.
I pledge to constructively share all experiences and information gained from activities above to inform the development of Navywide reforms.
All emboldened words above are our highlights showing how extreme conformity and advocacy will be enforced on the 620,000+ Navy personnel and contractors/ We can expect a mandatary oath with penalties for non-compliance.
To be fair, military personnel have always signed away certain individual freedoms upon service entry, but the limit of free thought, beliefs and now actions will be momentous. Systemic racism, sexism, LGTBQ support seems more important than mental health, overall readiness and creating the fighting force needed to fend off attacks from all foreign forces.
This plan was first announced in June (under Pres. Trump) and is now expected to become service-wide under President Biden. It appears the traditions and strength of the U.S. military, respected globally, may be eroded from within.
