First, it was the militarization of Washington, D.C. for the inauguration and then the poor treatment of the same by the Biden Administration. From the parking garage fiasco to the enhanced screening of troops for ‘far right’ connections, the assault on conservatives nationally as well conservativism in the military continues.
Last week, Biden directed the military to attack white supremacy and extremism within the military. U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has ordered all branches of the military to initiate a “stand down” within the next two months days so they can examine threats posed by white supremacy and other forms of extremism.
Interestingly, no concerns over black power (supremacy?), BLM-support, or Antifa sympathy is being investigated. Legitimate concerns over pro- K.K.K. ideology does exist but the military is also the ultimate example of institutional equality and opportunity. A soldier should not have to worry about membership in the Three Percenters or a Marine worry about his Don’t Tread on Me flag. The brass is signaling that these “far right” connections may soon be grounds for REMOVAL from the military.
While the Obama years saw a decrease in military funding and a decline in readiness and morale, the Biden years will likely see a recasting of military membership and ideals. The false narrative of systemic racism and the push for inclusivity will yield a military of a different nature. Will it be able to remain the world’s premier fighting force- ready and capable?
Biden’s week one executive order rescinding Trump’s ban on transgender military service is well known by now. America’s all-volunteer military is just that- made up of volunteers without a draft or compulsory service. As no one is required to serve, discrimination is not founded. Moreover, if the draft was in use, it IS called the SELECTIVE Service Act.
In fact, Trump did not ban already (proclaimed) transgender troops from continuing to serve, but only new recruits seeking “transition”. Department of Defense estimates point to almost 1% percent of servicemembers are transgender. An effective fighting force cannot spend time on these issues, dedicating time and resources to a distraction. Removal of 1% would not impact readiness while removal of those who might support the “3%” movement and / or the military oath certainly would. https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2021-02-04/pentagon-to-hold-a-stand-down-and-review-recruitment-screening-for-extremism-after-u-s-capitol-attack
I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”Title 10, US Code
Military recruits lose their identity on day 1 as is the point of initial training- a.k.a. boot camp. The point of uniforms, haircuts and drill and ceremony is to form a collective mindset that follows orders and removes the concept of individualism. The enemy does not care about your feelings, your gender confusion or perceptions of identity. Nations such as China are likely relishing America’s weakness from the Commander – in- Chief down to the confused soldier, sailor, airman or marine pretending to be another gender. Furthermore, removing the most dedicated, constitution-bound, freedom loving oath supporters from the ranks of the military, could prove disastrous.
